New Cougar Story

Here's the latest cougar story in The Post and Courier, which triggered another round of sighting reports - more than 20, including some intriguing pictures. Here are two from a couple who live near Charleston. They report that they saw a cougar cub, and that their fence was damaged by something with large claws. These pictures were taken at dusk and aren't definitive, as no tail can be seen. But they're interesting nonetheless.

A friend and I spotted what was obviously a "black panther" or cougar on a mt. bike trail in a very urban area of Tallahassee, FL. The land was a powerline easement that connects to wilderness several miles North of town. I would guess this animal lives locally. Sorry it's not SC, but I'm on a big cat proof quest of my own. This is my second sighting in two years. The other time I was alone.
